Charlene Haykel

Managing Principal

Charlene Haykel is a communications consultant with 40 years’ experience developing marketing and educational materials for companies and public sector organizations. A former principal at three NY agencies, she is currently managing principal of The Haykel Group, a consultancy focused on effectively communicating complex information to lay audiences.

In 1998. she developed and trademarked a process called Macrosimplification™ for applying the principles of  document simplification across a  broad swath of corporate communications. Since then, this process has framed her work with
dozens of companies and led to transformative changes in how they view and manage their communications operations.

In 2005, Charlene launched  Simply College™, a program to demystify for parents and students the daunting and complex college application and funding processes. The Haykel Group spun off this effort into a separate company in 2006.

Charlene earned an MA in journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill which recently named her its Hearst Visiting Professional. She also holds a BA in English from Daemen College in Buffalo, NY.
